Seal of the confessional
The confessional is an important tradition within the Catholic Church. It is designed in such a way that the penitent can remain anonymous to ease them into opening up about whatever sin they might struggle with. The fear of judgment is removed when the member of the church is unknown to the priest participating in the confessional. Confidentiality is further reinforced with the priest being bound by the “Seal of the Confessional” assuring that all information exchanged is never revealed. It was my turn once again to take part in the confessional, swearing myself to absolute secrecy in regard to anything that was shared in confidence within the confined space.
